Album Notes

With the warmest winter in half a century blanketing Alberta (and indeed much of Canada), we've been treated to some amazing winter scenes in Edmonton. The warmer cold temperatures (look, it's usually -25 degrees celsius here in January) the trees this weekend were coated in frost and ice. I grabbed my friend Eddie Thomas (from Labrador and Hodges Cove, NF) and headed up to Elk Island National Park just east of Edmonton. What a contrast from the summer scenes I've photographed there. The eerie silence of snow and ice blended with ghostly tree branches coated in white ice made for an interesting hike and a unique photographic opportunity. A veritable winter wonderland.
